CONNECTING EDUBLOCKS

If you wish to provide your customers with more options when building with Edublocks you can join them together. We have set out below how you can do so.

You will need following tools and fixings:

- A drill with a drill bit larger than the bolt thread and a sharp implement.

- A nut and bolt with two large washers (suggest the bolts that join kitchen units, although you can use standard nuts and bolts).
- Contact adhesive.

Drill a hole in the end of one of the blocks (fig 1) and ensure the hole is clean and fully open. Align the two blocks and put the sharp implement through the drilled block and some sort of indentation in the second block (fig 2) Drill a second hole where the indentation is.
Apply contact adhesive to both drilled ends (fig 3) of the blocks and wait until the adhesive is dry (usually around 15 minutes). When dry push the blocks together and clamp them to ensure a strong bond (fig 4). Unfortunately the bricks will not hold just using the adhesive so bolt them together (fig 5). Allow the glue to dry and remove the clamps and ensure the fixing is tight.
You now have a much longer building block (fig 6). We would suggest that the maximum you would need to fix together is three blocks.
